The Pond

We went to the local pond last evening. What a gorgeous night. It is located in my hometown. I see many more trips there in the future. Violet had a blast! It was my first adventure solo with the two kiddos. Great spot to see all the locals. That Kathleen for getting me there and for all your help!

Black and White Photo Challenge Wednesday

I am joining Natural Suburbia with this weekly photo challenge. I needed something to get me to take more photos. Here is the one I entered this week. It is one of my favorites of my awesome husband.

Farm Day Maine

Last Sunday all of the Farms opened their doors throughout the state of Maine. It was a perfect opportunity to go check out a working farm and to ask questions. We traveled over to Limington to a farm called Tyler Farm. It was a longer drive than we thought from Wells. But Violet was able to get a nice long nap in. We learned about how they take care of their chickens and saw their vegetable garden. They said they were 85% self sufficient. They can and freeze a lot of their fruits and vegetables to get through the winter months. They also had some gorgeous yarn from their sheep. I splurged on two skeins of it of course! Brian recently started a small self watering vegetable garden. We are testing it out this year and will expand it next year. I have a ton of basil this year and some other herbs and some lettuce growing. We are also seriously considering getting 6 chickens. Well see.....Here are a few photos from Farm Day. What do you have growing in your garden?

Airstream Life

Sorry I have been absent from this space. We finally had our first trip up to the Airstream last week. We took a 4 night trip with our 2 year old and our newborn and we survived. We do not have internet up there, so I will update the blog when I return from these trips. Our site is located in the on the beautiful coast of Maine in a town call Wells. We can walk to the beach and also have oceanviews from the campground. It is very family friendly. There is an onsite playground, beautiful in ground pool, shuffleboard, beach volleyball and more. We plan to go up for 3-4 night a week. We have the only Airstream in the campground. Brian did and amazing job getting it ready. Our screens are all bug proof. The windows are sealed. And we have working sinks and toilets! There are more things to improve next year. Like getting the ac fixed and a new awning. Here are some pics from our first trip: ENJOY!

Weekending

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend. We brought Vintage to the beach for the first time yesterday. We are definitely sunset beachgoers. No need for sunscreen, a little more quiet crowd. It was perfect! We are so thankful to live near the ocean. It is such an important part of our life. Someday....maybe someday we will live a block away. Airstream update coming soon!!!!

Vintage for Vintage

One of the most beautiful gifts I have received for Miss Vintage is this pillowcase my aunt gave me. It is from my Yiayia (Grandmother) on my father's side. I don't remember her too well, she died when I was very young, but I do have her name for my middle name and I feel like I inherited her love of sewing. The pillowcase is handpainted, from Greece. It is a work of art, the back has 3 very dainty mother of pearl buttons. This gift really took my breath away. Thank you Auntie Linda! I want to find the perfect frame for it and have it professionally mounted to hang in Vintage's room. What do you think?

Vintage's Arrival

I chose to have a scheduled C-section this time around. With my first born, I developed Pregnancy Induced Hypertension at 40 weeks. My fingers and feet became very swollen weeks before though and I just felt awful. They ended up inducing me and putting me on many medications that made me feel even worse and I ended up with a C-section 2 days later.
This pregnancy I felt great and kept saying that if my body went into labor before the date they chose for the C-section, then I would try for a V-Bac. My doctor said she would support me with whatever decision I made. It was nice having the control this time around. Well, June 30th approached and my gut told me to go in for the C-section. It was very surreal. But I must say recovery this time around has been much easier. They hung fluids during the procedure and gave me a spinal, but it was over quickly and I was very present when Brian yelled "It's a GIRL" I couldn't believe it. I really thought I was having a boy for sure because I had felt so good toward the end of the pregnancy. There were far less medications this time. I had fluids during the night to replace the blood I lost and flush the anesthesia out of my system. I didn't take anything for pain until the next day. I tried to keep things as natural as possible while in the hospital. I did not wear a Johnny the entire stay. I ate very healthy meals. Vintage was with me all the time. I was taken care of. I had excellent care and excellent food! I had lots of visitors this time around because my very close cousin had a major operation scheduled for the same day. My dad visited us everyday and I even got him to massage/itch my legs one night which was nice. My aunt, cousins and other relatives stopped in a lot, so it was nice to have company. My in-laws spent their time entertaining Violet and helping Brian with whatever needed to be done around the house/business. Thank you everyone! Here a few more shots!
